The Conservatives have, as one of their first acts following their landslide victory at the Isle of Wight council elections, dropped yearly Leader elections, choosing to elect one leader for four years instead.
Lora Peacey-Wilcox has been an Isle of Wight councillor for many years. She was re-elected in May 2017 to Cowes Medina ward as an Independent.
She was vice-chairman of the Isle of Wight council between 2015-2017 and then elected as chairman for 2017-18.
In May 2021 she was re-elected and became Leader of the ruling Alliance Group — a position she held until September 2023.
