The appeal had strong public support and a great team of experts on hand to help, but it couldn't quite make the asking price for the former art deco style cinema.
A campaign to save a vintage cinema in Sandown was spearheaded by founder of the Isle of Wight Film Festival, Bruce Webb in October 2013.
A whopping £140,000 was raised by the campaign but not enough to secure the purchase of the cinema, which went on to be demolished and housing built on the site.
