Details that first appeared as comments with OnTheWight, were, for the first time, heard in the council chamber last night. Cllr Stubbings laid out in detail his sequence of events, "to put the record straight in the public arena".
The Shanklin Cliff Lift will remain closed for the foreseeable future due to safety concerns after the public footbridge structure was found to have significantly and unexpectedly deteriorated.
As well as the potential funding to fix the footbridge to the Shanklin Cliff Lift being identified, the council confirm that works highlighted in the June 2013 report have already been completed.
Good news for those in Shanklin who were worried about the cliff lift being out of action and no bus service to take visitors/residents down to the seafront.
Whether the call-in will delay work going on behind the scenes to prepare reports due to go to the October Executive for both Undercliff Drive and Totland Seawall is not yet known. We've asked and are awaiting a response.
