All are invited to a free fun day in Yarmouth tomorrow (Saturday 19th August between 2-5pm)
The event is being held to raise money to upgrade and improve the play equipment on the Recreation Ground in Yarmouth in order to meet today’s requirements, especially to give access to children with disabilities.
Helping to cater for children with mobility problems
The Recreation Ground Committee, which was set up by the Town Council, has consulted widely to find out what sort of play equipment people would like to see, and has ensured that children with mobility problems are catered for, for the first time.
The Family Fun Day, on the Rec, will mark the new school year, celebrate healthy living and raise some money towards new play equipment.
Fun and sport
The emphasis on the Family Fun Day will be fun and sport. Led by West Wight Sports Centre team, who will include a Tug o’ War, as well as races.
Yarmouth and Calbourne Football Club members have offered to include some football skills too, and John of Wight Cycle Works has agreed to set up a cycling skills course.
Great raffle prizes
There are great raffle prizes – an historic print from the Town Trust, Wightlink and Southern Vectis vouchers, donations from local shops and businesses.
The Town Council have already given £5,000, Yarmouth Town Trust £5,000 and the Herapath Shenton Trust £10,000.
The target is £50,000 and the sun is due to shine in Yarmouth tomorrow, so why not head over and help the town reach their target. It should be a great day out for the family.
Head to Yarmouth Recreational Ground between 2-5pm on Saturday 19th September.
