The countdown has begun for this year’s Rhythmtree Festival – a three day celebration of musical diversity that takes place from 18-20 July, in Calbourne on the Isle of Wight.

Located in beautiful farmland, surrounded by trees, the festival offers family-friendly entertainment in an idyllic, safe setting. For the fifth Rhythmtree Festival – which is appropriately our ‘wood’ anniversary – we are hosting an exciting line-up of established and upcoming talent, spanning afrobeat, reggae, funk, blues, folk, Latin and country music.

Aswad headlines on Saturday night
Topping the bill on Saturday night is reggae supergroup Aswad – this band continues to innovate after 40 years in the music business, during which time they’ve released 21 albums and hit records including the UK number one, Don’t Turn Around.

They’re known for their charismatic performances and catchy tunes that make dancing compulsory.

The Bees return to the stage
On Friday night, there’s a showcase for Island talent, headlined by The Bees. Originally from Ventnor, they blend a range of musical influences into a shamanic brew, to create perfect, indie rock with a psychedelic kick. Known throughout the globe, their hit tracks include A Minha Menina and Chicken Payback.

This summer marks ten years since their release of their landmark second album, Free the Bees, which was recorded at Abbey Road Studios. It’s also their only festival appearance this year – and their first live gig for 12 months – so book tickets as soon as possible for this landmark celebration.

CHAMPS and Plastic Mermaids
Also on Friday’s bill are CHAMPS – acclaimed folksy brothers whose new album Down Like Gold has been getting rave reviews in the music press. They will be joined by Plastic Mermaids, local surfer boys who play their mesmerising trip-pop to packed venues.
