Despite the strong current and water temperature (7.5 celsius - or 45.5 Fahrenheit), most of the brave swimmers finished the course and raised nearly £600 for the RNLI.
As well as praise for the efficient use of the Inshore Lifeboat centre in East Cowes, it was revealed that the Island raised £329,515 net for the RNLI in the last year.
A couple, trapped by an incoming tide and a treacherous cliff, as well as the police officer who went to their aid, were rescued by Cowes RNLI lifeboat on Sunday afternoon.
The initiative of two young Island girls - who raised money for the RNLI by selling glasses of lemonade - was recognised by RNLI volunteers at the weekend.
