News reached us earlier in the week that the company that runs Bembridge Harbour went into liquidation on Tuesday.
After receiving an eight week reprieve from Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs back in February, Bembridge Harbour Improvement Company is now in the hands of RSM Tenon who are acting as administrators.
Bembridge Harbour Trust speak to administrators
Bembridge Harbour Trust, which was set up in 2007 to preserve and enhance Bembridge harbour, have been waiting for the opportunity to buy the harbour for some time and although it’s been reported that the administrators aim to continue to run the harbour as a going concern, this could be the chance BHT have been waiting for.
Donald Biddle of the Trust told VB, “We’ve been in touch with the administrators who are aware of our intentions.”
He went on to say that it would take some time for the administrators to sort through the ‘mess’, but once that was complete, they would be able to enter negotiations to secure the harbour’s future use and preservation.
