Ryde Men's Coastal Junior Pair - Will Ford and James Smith

Best result of the season for Will and James at Bournemouth Regatta

Thanks to Steve for this latest report from Ryde Rowing Club. Ed

A small team from Wightlink sponsored Ryde Rowing Club competed at Bournemouth Regatta on Saturday – (18th July) with the Men’s Coastal Junior Pair of Will Ford and James Smith achieving their best result of the season to date – showing real progress – to finish in 3rd place in their final.

With no J16 events at the Regatta the Club’s J16 squad of Tom Kearney, Ben Toms, Joel Smith and Dom Douglas with cox Austin Smith could only compete in the Men’s Novice Fours – against older and bigger crews – but were still a little disappointed with their fifth place in their heat meaning they missed out on a place in the final.

Dale Buckett raced in the Men’s Novice Sculls and produced a good performance to finish fourth in the final race, at a time when conditions afloat were at their worst.

Kate Whitehurst raced in a composite Ladies Novice Four with Newport finishing fourth where the crew put in a good performance to finish fourth in their final.
