Big turnout for Library Fayre

People from across the island descended on Bembridge Community Library last Saturday for the annual Christmas Fayre, which was offering visitors music, stalls, coffee, mince pies and homemade cakes.

The fundraising event included festive sounds from the Bembridge Bellringers, carols from the St Helens Primary school choir, music from the Bembridge Recorder Consort, book sales, a pre-loved toy stall, biscuit decoration for children and a Grand Christmas Raffle with many prizes donated by local businesses, including £100 from the Bembridge Business Association.

Library lead volunteer co-ordinator Chris Brennan said,

“We were so pleased that so many people took the time to visit us at such a busy time of year.

“There were a lot of other events taking place in the village on the day, so such a large turnout proves that the Community Library is really valued.”

Bembridge Community Library is managed entirely by volunteers and remains completely self-funding since Isle of Wight Council relinquished responsibility over two years ago.
