You might remember my excitement at the beginning of Jan when I learnt of the imminent arrival of Billy Childish on the island.
Well … the time has come, and from this weekend you too can experience the Chatham born legend for yourselves.
His residency starts with a drinks reception (for my sake … hope there’s no whiskey) kicking off at 6pm and this is followed by The Buff Medways (his band) gig at 8pm.
The good news is that there are a handful of tickets left … call the Quay (01983 822490) immediately to secure your place (don’t forget to mention where you heard about it).
Garage punk might not be to everyone’s taste, but a chance to experience it on the island doesn’t come around often and even if you don’t like the music … he’s a top lyricist.
If you miss the gig, there’s always the film night next week and of course the exhibition which runs until 11 March.
Oh, and he’ll be at Ottakers on Monday night (30th) at 6.30pm discussing his writing.
