Many thanks to the VB reader who has been in touch with news of a rescue taking place off Ryde Pier.
It was originally thought that there was a fire in the engine room onboard the pilot-type boat that had ten people on board.
Both Bembridge Lifeboat and Ryde Rescue are attending the rescue just three cables south of North Sturbridge Bouy.
Bryan Jones discovered the fault
According to our source, Police launch Sword is also in attendance and Bembridge Lifeboat Mechanic, Bryan Jones, discovered the fault, which rather than a fire was a water hose coming loose.
This resulted it in showering the exhaust with water, thus creating steam.
All non-essential crew are being taken off to Bembridge Lifeboat Station.
We understand that QHM Portsmouth are sending tug ‘Helen’ to tow the boat into Portsmouth Harbour, where Hampshire Fire and Rescue will meet the boat.
