Book of Condolence at County Hall

Books of Condolence opened across the Isle of Wight for Islanders to pay tribute to Her Majesty the Queen

Today our thoughts continue to be with the Royal Family at this very sad time.

We were honoured to have been visited by Her Majesty, The Queen on a number of occasions during her reign, and we have written to Buckingham Palace to offer our deepest condolences.

Service of Thanksgiving
Arrangements for a local Service of Thanksgiving are in progress and further details will be released shortly.

Books of Condolence
We are opening a number of Books of Condolence across the Island, and people are invited to sign these to pay their respects. The locations include:

  • County Hall, Newport;
  • Cowes Library;
  • Freshwater Library;
  • Ryde Library;
  • Ventnor Library;
  • Sandown Library.

County Hall is open Monday to Thursday, 8.30am until 5pm and on Fridays from 8.30am until 4.30pm. Opening times for individual libraries are available on the council’s Website.

Other venues
We are aware that a Book of Condolence will also be opened at Newport Minster and churches and venues across the Island may also make similar arrangements.

A National Condolence Online Book is also available to sign on the Royal Family Website.

Floral tributes
We respectfully ask that anyone wishing to lay flowers in tribute, should do so at Church Litten, Newport.

Signs are in place to advise where floral tributes may be placed.
