They are acts of extreme bravery, professionalism and dedication that deserve to be celebrated.
And now those officers and members of the public who went above and beyond to help others at all cost have been honoured at a special ceremony in Netley.
Recognising excellent police work
The Chief Constable’s Awards are a chance for us to recognise excellent police work that saw officers go that extra mile to get justice for vulnerable victims or risk injury to resolve potentially life-threatening situations.
The awards are also an opportunity to thank members of the public who have shown great courage when confronted with terrifying ordeals.
These are the first awards since Chief Constable Olivia Pinkney joined Hampshire Constabulary and she had the honour of presenting the awards at the ceremony.
She said:
“This is a great opportunity to recognise the excellent and hard work of officers, staff, volunteers and members of the public across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
“From long service and good conduct awards to acts of extreme bravery, remarkable teamwork and tremendous detective ability, this ceremony highlights the passion and desire to help serve our communities.
“I am immensely proud of the dedication of our officers and staff and it is a great pleasure to recognise the contribution members of our community make to keeping our counties safe and in helping us to protect the vulnerable.”
The ceremony also saw a number of local officers and staff receive their long service medals.
They were:
Chief Inspector James Pegler, Chief Inspector Mark Lewis, Detective Chief Inspector Liz Williams, Police Sergeant Helen Mosely, Detective Sergeant Paul Harrison, PC Helen Murphy, Acting Police Sergeant Roger Hall, PC James Mullen, PC Martin Jacobs, PC Clifford Twitcher, PC Ben Stoneley, PC Mark Freize, PC Mark Arnold, PC Simon Mound, PC Howard Miell, PC Ian Hoile, PC Steven Rycroft, DC Paul Barry and Acting Detective Sergeant Katharine Barry.
