If you were in awe of the skateboarding skills of Team GB’s Sky Brown or Bombette Martin in the Tokyo Olympic Games, you might want to head to Freshwater Skatepark this Saturday (21st August).
Don’t Rain and Canopy Skatepark are hosting a skateboarding competition from 11am, with prizes from the likes of Wight Trash, Teemill, Craft Vegan Pizza, Canopy and Don’t Rain.
Show you care
The purpose of the event, as well as to have a rad day out, is to show Freshwater Parish Council just how important Isle of Wight skateboarders believe having skatepark facilities is.
The local council have committed £120,000 over two years towards the Pump Track project at The Stroud, with the hope it will generate interest and funding for a new concrete skatepark in Freshwater in the following year.
Hamish Fleming from Canopy said,
“Please come join the mad spot jams on the old park and loads of the Don’t Rain obstacles.
“There are loads of prizes and silly fun challenges and we’ll show the councillors how important skateboarding is to us and the Isle of Wight.”
There’ll also be a scooter comp from Blake Nash of Island Extreme, so head over to Freshwater Skatepark (next to the Sports Centre in Moa Place) from 11am.
