Total silence on Tory MP’s partner being blocked from IW Conservatives

It appears the division within the Isle of Wight Conservatives is just as fractious as it has been for the last few years.

It’s been reported that Carole Dennett, the partner of current Conservative Isle of Wight MP, Andrew Turner, had her application for membership of the IW Conservative Association refused on Friday (25th April).

While saying to the CP, in a very brief article, “It is an internal Conservative matter and I cannot discuss it publicly”, the IWCA’s Chair, Alan Wells confirmed Friday’s meeting was attended by “almost all 40 members of the executive”.

Trying
OnTheWight has been trying to find out more details as to how the Association, that has Andrew Turner as its sole MP, came to block the partner of said MP from the organisation that is supposed to support and promote the MP.

To date, all of OnTheWight’s approaches to those involved, directly, or closely connected – who are, it’s worth noting, not usually short of a comment or two – have been met with a universal silence. Most unusual.

Disunity
It was only back in October of last year (2013), that some within the IWCA tried to oust Andrew Turner from being the Conservative candidate at the 2015 General election.

At that time – six months ago – there were calls within the party for unity so close to the election. The General election will be in one year, one week’s time.
