Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner, Simon Hayes, is launching a second round for funding bids to support groups, individuals or organisations that will help reduce crime, and support victims and witnesses across the two counties of Hampshire and Isle of Wight.
The Innovation Fund and Small Grants Fund form part of Mr Hayes’ wider Commissioning Plan which was launched in January (2014). Both funds have a combined value of £200,000 to be shared amongst successful bidders.
The Innovation Fund is available to those who come forward with new ideas for projects, services, activities or ideas that can show positive outcomes linked to the four priorities of the Police and Crime Plan.
These are:
- To improve frontline policing to deter criminals and keep communities safe
- Place victims and witnesses at the heart of the policing and criminal justice system
- Work together to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in your community
- Reduce reoffending
There is no upper limit on the amount that can be applied for from the Innovation Fund and criteria on which bids will be assessed are based on whether:
- the project / service / activity deliver on one or more of the Police and Crime Plan Priorities?
- the project / service / activity focus on reducing offending, reoffending or supporting victims or witnesses?
- Is a new and innovative project / service / activity?
- the project / service / activity have an exit strategy or a sustainable approach to funding in the future?
Details of the Commissioning Plan can be found here
The Small Grants Fund aims to support services and providers, in particular smaller voluntary organisations, with a one off payment of up to £3,000 to help reduce offending, reoffending or supporting victims.
Applications will be assessed against a number of criteria and grant success factors and that they meet a number of conditions in order for the application to be successful. These are:
- Does the project / service / activity deliver on one or more of the Police and Crime Plan Priorities?
- Does the project / service / activity deliver on one or more of the Commissioning Plan themes?
- Does the project / service / activity focus on reducing offending, reoffending or supporting victims or witnesses?
A panel will assess each application to ensure it meets the criteria and will then be matrix scored against the evidence as outlined within the grant process above.
Applications can be made from Tuesday 7 July until mid-day on Friday 15 August, with successful bidders being notified from Friday 12 September.
