Chale Show: Fun For Everyone

James Dylan Car Stunt TeamThe Chale Show is the Island’s biggest horticultural show with over 1,000 exhibit entries.

There are are Arena Events both afternoons with marching bands, childrens’ races, Traction engines, vintage tractors, children’s entertainer and our main events this year is James Dylan Car Stunt Team.

We have over 20,000 square feet under canvas including horticultural exhibits, crafts, antiques, farmers market and demonstrations and displays. There are outside trade and charity stalls, static displays, steam engines, vintage tractors and army vehicles. Add to that a childrens’ fair and catering for all tastes.

There are usually around 15,000 visitors to the show over the weekend, so there will be a lively atmosphere to enjoy.

This year the Chale Show opens 11 am both days.

Admission charges are £7 for adults; £5 for O.A.P.s Children up to 16 years and car parking are free.

Developments on the project to restore Medway Queen have been reported here in the past and details of this year’s Chale Show have recently appeared. Readers may be interested to know that the Medway Queen Preservation Society will be represented at this year’s Chale Show so there will be an opportunity to catch up on the latest news.

Well after walking round what was a pretty good show and the first one we’ve been to as “overners” we were absolutely appalled by the seemingly total lack of organisation with regard to clearing the car park. In response to the comment above regarding the “lack of organisation in the car park” there are a number of comments I would like to make: 1. Because of the poor weather on the Saturday – when there where no traffic problems – Sunday experianced virtually twice the number of visitors. This was somewhat of an extraordinary circumstance. 2. I would like to make a few comments in relation to the above response (and hope that Ella will repeat her response to The IWCP who received a large number of complaints too) No, I have never been (and never will) go to a Rock or Pop Concert and definitely wouldn’t waste money going to such a noisy and un-environmentally friendly event as Silverstone – and maybe… Read more »

Jenny I will most certainly take my comments to the IWCP. It’s a shame this subject has marred what is perhaps one of only a handful of traditional shows that was otherwise a fun day.
