Christ the King College is celebrating a highly positive Ofsted inspection outcome, with inspectors highlighting significant strengths across the school and recognising the College as meeting the Expected Standard in all areas except one aspect of attendance.
Inspectors praise inclusive culture and safeguarding
Inspectors described pupils as “proud of their school” and praised the College’s inclusive ethos, ambitious curriculum, strong pastoral care, effective safeguarding, leadership and governance, and highly effective careers education.
The report highlights positive relationships between staff and students, effective support for pupils with SEND, strong partnerships with families, and a culture where pupils feel safe, valued and belong.
Careers provision and pastoral system singled out
Praise was given to the College’s pastoral systems and careers provision. Inspectors described careers education as “highly effective and inclusive” and recognised the school’s “sophisticated pastoral system”, which provides effective support for pupils’ wellbeing.
Pupils were found to be respectful and attentive, with highly effective routines creating purposeful learning environments. Bullying was described as rare and dealt with effectively.
Pupils achieving in line with national averages
The report also recognises that pupils achieve broadly in line with national averages, benefit from an ambitious curriculum, and receive effective support to succeed.
Governors were commended for both supporting and challenging leaders, while staff reported feeling valued and well supported.
Attendance flagged as the one area to improve
The only area identified as requiring further improvement was attendance. Inspectors acknowledged that attendance is improving and recognised the extensive work already underway but concluded that it was too early to see the full impact of these strategies.
Behaviour itself was highly praised throughout the report.

What stands out is that inspectors found us to be meeting or exceeding expectations across almost every aspect of school life and commented on our high-quality provision inside and outside the classroom.
“Most importantly, this report confirms what our families already know: that Christ the King is a school where young people are safe, valued, ambitious, and supported to flourish. While we acknowledge there is more work to do on attendance, inspectors recognised the progress already made and the clear strategies we have in place.
“We remain committed to continuous improvement and ensuring every young person can achieve their full potential. The report provides strong external validation of the College’s inclusive ethos, ambitious vision and commitment to delivering an excellent education for every young person.
“Christ the King College will continue to focus on improving attendance while building on the many strengths identified by inspectors as it continues to serve Island families with pride.”
