Further to the release of initial findings of Hampshire Constabulary’s project to reduce domestic abuse – Project CARA, Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire and Isle of Wight said,
“I welcome the findings of Project CARA and the ground breaking research. The criminal justice system is struggling to meet the needs of victims in this complex area and I am committed to ensuring we do what’s right for victims.
“We are working closely with our partners in local authorities across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to evaluate different approaches to working with domestic abuse perpetrators and we will be looking to agree a long-term evidence based strategy with them. This is central to the work to reduce reoffending which is in the interest of victims, potential victims, perpetrators and communities as a whole.”
