Priory School struck a perfect chord yesterday (Tuesday) when a beautiful piano was donated to the school by Mrs Lynch of East Cowes. But this was no ordinary delivery.
Our newest instrument arrived not by truck, van or lorry, but by bicycle. Thanks to the brilliant team at Keert, the local green cargo bike company and friends of the school, the piano made its journey with style, and whilst no traffic jams were caused, drivers did raise an eyebrow (or two) as they passed a piano being towed behind a bike.
Also helping out with a bit of extra muscle were some of the actors from Ad Lib Theatre, at the time rehearsing in school, who lent a hand for the final push.

Photos captured every stage of the adventure, most significantly the piano being carefully pedalled to Priory. Thanks go to Mr Lynch, our Head of Performing Arts, and Matt from Keert for helping the piano reach its final destination – pride of place in the Main Hall, ready to fill the school with music.

This unusual delivery wasn’t just entertaining; it was another step in Priory’s commitment to sustainability.
By reusing a donated instrument and transporting it with minimal carbon emissions, we’ve once again shown that great things can happen when creativity, community, and a little pedal power come together.

And of course, it was good fun too!
