An investigation into alleged serious sexual offences, which saw 13 people arrested – including three police officers – cost the Force over £200,000.
Six men were arrested (including three police officers) in December 2014 on suspicion of conspiracy to commit serious sexual offences on the Isle of Wight.
A further seven men were arrested in February 2015.
139 police officers or members of staff
According to a Freedom of Information Request, over 139 police officers or members of staff were involved in the comprehensive investigation which stretched over four months. One forensic officer undertook 110 hours of work.
The investigation came to an end last month (April 2015) when all men were released without charge, after the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) concluded there was a lack of supporting evidence.
