Brannon House from the road on Google Maps

County Press offices up for sale (updated)

Our friends over at satirical site, Isle of Wight Can Depress, spotted today that the County Press offices are up for sale.

Listed with HRD, the three storey 1990’s purpose-built office block also features a retail unit at the side of the building, plus parking for ten vehicles.

Brannon House has a guide price of £750,000 and is one of many Newport commercial properties up for sale.

Owned by a mainland company
Back in July 2017, the shareholders of the previously family-owned local paper, sold out to mammoth news publisher, Newsquest.

The paper has seen many changes in the last six years since it was taken over.

News OnTheWight got in touch with one of the editors of the now mainland-owned paper to find out whether staff would be moving to new offices, or would be working from home.

The CP aren’t saying where their staff will work from – although there is a mention of “we can do our jobs with a smart phone and a laptop”.

Following the article being published Lucy Morgan (co-editor) wrote to confirm,

“We will remain at our current location until we have a buyer and then will retain office space either here or in a new building on the Island.”
