Councillor to question College building’s ‘fitness for purpose’

At Wednesday’s Full Council meeting, Cllr Chris Whitehouse, the education spokesperson for the Conservative group of councillors raised the subject of the new Cowes Enterprise College building.

He explained that one of the visits that he and Cabinet member for Children’s Services, Cllr Richard Priest, had recently made was to Cowes Enterprise College. He told members they,

“Came back with very strong feelings about that project.”

Cllr Whitehouse went on to say that he would be raising the issue at the Children and Young People’s Scrutiny Panel’s meeting on Wednesday 25th September.

Raising complex issues
Giving advance warning to officers, the councillor said he’d like to look at the ‘fitness for purpose’ of the new building, the revenue implications of the new building for educational expenditure on the Island and a number of other complex issues.

OnTheWight will be reporting live from the Scrutiny Panel as usual.
