Cowes RNLI Lifeboat rescues overturned dinghy couple in the Solent

A man and a woman, thrown into the sea when their 14 foot sailing dinghy over-turned, led to the launching of Cowes RNLI lifeboat this morning (Friday).

The incident happened near North Ryde Middle Buoy. On arrival at the scene the lifeboat, which had launched at 11.16am, found the couple had been picked up by a Southampton Harbour patrol launch.

Towed to Wootton creak
The lifeboat managed to right the upturned dinghy and tow it to the Royal Victoria Yacht Club in Wootton Creek.

The lifeboat also delivered the couple from the patrol launch to the club, where they were met by Bembridge coastguards.

The lifeboat returned to station at 12.50pm.
