Cowes RNLI lifeboat rescues training yacht after night-time engine failure

A 32-foot yacht, which lost power in a fast-flowing tide in the River Medina late last night (Tuesday), went on to receive assistance from Cowes RNLI lifeboat.

The yacht, carrying seven people, including five Europeans undergoing sea training, lost its engine power just beyond the floating bridge. They managed to secure the vessel to a post before radioing for help.

The lifeboat, which had launched at 10.43 pm, provided an alongside tow, to deliver the yacht to Cowes Yacht Haven; it then returned to station at 11.35 pm.
