Damien Nettles Suspects Released On Bail

This just in from the Police, in their own words. Ed

Five men arrested on suspicion of murdering missing Isle of Wight teenager Damien Nettles in 1996 were released on bail this afternoon (Wednesday, May 11, 2011).

A 44-year-old man from Cowes, Isle of Wight, a 48-year-old man from Sandown, Isle of Wight, a 37-year-old man from Ryde, Isle of Wight, and a 50-year-old man from Newport, Isle of Wight were bailed until Wednesday, June 8, 2011 pending further enquiries.

A 39-year-old man from Gravesend, Kent was bailed until Thursday, June 9, 2011 pending further enquiries.

All five men were arrested between 5.45am and 6.30am on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 and questioned at a number of different police stations across the island and Hampshire.

Somebody has taken my car tax disc holder from my car. I know you do not have to display tax discs any more but I wanted to keep my tax discs. I am quite happy for the person to keep the actual holder but would like my tax discs returned in the post. There is no value in the tax discs other than sentimental. Please email yjciow@gmail.com

If only the criminal justice system were to take this sort of crime seriously there would be less of it. Whether it is a lackadaisical approach from Hampshire Police leaving it for several days to look for forensic evidence, a Crown Prosecution Service that refuses to put any forensic evidence gathered before a jury, or perhaps worst of all, liberal out of touch judges that send career… Read more »
