We’ve received a call from a reader telling us that Isle of Wight police have taped off an area of Church Litten, Newport and covered a body with a white sheet.
The reader who witnessed it, described it to OnTheWight as, “lying down on the bench with the knees up”.
The bench, located at the Library end of the park, has, of late, been a location where young drinkers have been congregating.
Update 14:01: Police can confirm a man’s body was found on a bench in Church Litten at 12:18pm today. The death is being treated as non suspicious.
Update 14:27: OnTheWight reader commented on our Facebook page – “Was very weird. Saw them both sat on the bench just beforehand – a lady wrapped in the blanket and a man looked quite agitated.”
