Dinosaur Isle: Decision Date On Its Fate Revealed

The Cabinet members of the Conservative party, who currently control the Isle of Wight council, are, VB learnt yesterday, planning on making their decision on the 22nd May on the transfer of Dinosaur Isle “to an Alternative Provider”.

Dinosaur IsleFrom the list of “Consultees” – Relevant Directors and Staff, Island History Forum members; Isle of Wight Geological Society; Friends of Dinosaur Isle; Dinosaur Isle Advisory Board – although apparently wide, doesn’t appear to include asking the people of the Isle of Wight what they think about the idea.

The way these Consultees will be asked their opinion on the idea are listed under the “Consultation Method” as – Heritage Sector Engagement (via meetings and questionnaire); Discussion and sight of draft report (IWC and Advisory Board only).

The council’s plan to shed responsibility for Dinosaur Isle was first discovered at the end of November 2010.
