More and more people are saying to us that they don’t bother to buy the County Press any more – “It’s got far too many adverts in it and most of the news items have appeared on Web sites during the week (or month!) leading up to the paper coming out,” is the common cry.
Read by 9000% of the Island
This obviously flies in the face of the figures that the CP like to quote at every opportunity – that they’re read by 92% of the Island (That reminds us, we really must find out from them how they came to that incredible figure, even if it was way back in 2007).
Burning issues
Come on people – we’re really interested to read about the latest fires in a rubbish bin – joking aside, the CP does have Charlotte Hofton’s insightful observations of the goings-on in the Council Chamber (you must read this week’s piece on page 35), Besley’s cartoon (p34) and this week David Newble has a long piece with Southern Vectis boss, Marc Morgan-Huws.
Some stories in there
There are some other stories that appear in there, that haven’t surfaced elsewhere, so with that in mind, we have for a while been thinking of publishing summaries of CP news stories on Friday – to save you the trouble of having to head out and buy the paper. so if you don’t usually buy it, we might give you an incentive.
What do you think – Do you want us to read the County Press, so you don’t need to?
