And now for something completely different!
Congratulations are in order for eight-year-old Bobby Scudder from Cowes. He’s just received a Blue Peter Sports Badge for all the skateboarding tricks that he’s been learning at John Cattle’s Skate Club.
Achievements recognised
The Lanesend Primary School pupil has been having skateboarding lessons for a little while now and wrote into Blue Peter to explain about all the different things he’s learnt to do on his beloved skateboard.
The Blue Peter team wrote back congratulating Bobby and sending him a very special Blue Peter Sports Badge, designed by none other than Sky Brown, to mark his achievements.
GB’s youngest ever medallist
14-year-old Sky Brown is the youngest professional skateboarder in the world – you might recognise her name from previous coverage about Martha Eggleton.
Sky represented GB at the 2020 Summer Olympics, picking up a bronze medal in the park event, making her the country’s youngest ever medallist.
She then won the park event at the 2023 World Skateboarding Championships, so receiving something especially designed by this skateboarding idol is quite something for an eight-year-old.
Grown so much in confidence
Bobby’s Mum, Carla, told News OnTheWight,
“Bobby has grown so much in confidence through skateboarding.
“John Cattle’s Skate Club really is truly amazing.”
Bobby can wear his Blue Peter Sports Badge with immense pride.
Keep on rolling, dude.
