Ellen MacArthur Trust 2024: From sailing to storytelling, volunteer opportunities abound

The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, renowned for its unwavering support for young individuals navigating post-cancer treatment, has always relied on its diligent volunteers.

Now, those eager to lend a hand will be pleased to learn that there are expanded avenues to volunteer.

Beginning Monday, 25th September, the Trust will open applications for its 2024 volunteering opportunities (but you only have three weeks to apply).

Diverse roles for varied commitments
No matter the time you have on hand, be it for an extended trip or just a few hours, there’s an opportunity for you. The Trust is keen to harness your unique skills, knowledge, and expertise to enrich the lives of youngsters post-treatment.

Whether you have a penchant for sailing, a background in medical expertise, or the ability to connect and support young individuals, there’s a role tailored for you. In addition to specialist roles like Mate and Medic, there are positions available as crew leaders, outdoor adventure enthusiasts, and even as travel companions ensuring safe transit for young attendees to their homes after their trips.

Broadening impact beyond the sea
But the opportunities don’t just lie on the open waters. The Trust welcomes volunteers who can share their personal stories, amplify the Trust’s mission at local events, festivals, or simply spread the word in their own communities. For those based nearer, an invitation is also extended to join the dedicated team at their Isle of Wight office.

The collective efforts of volunteers play an instrumental role in bolstering the Trust’s fundraising and awareness initiatives. The ultimate goal? To embolden even more young individuals to envision a hopeful future, as they transition to a life beyond cancer.
