Elliott Lea embarks on Isle of Wight ultra marathon for youth suicide prevention

Over the Easter weekend in 2024 Elliott Lea has committed to running an ultra marathon around the entire perimeter of the Isle of Wight, covering a daunting 113 kilometres (70 miles) in under 24 hours.

A marathon for a cause
Elliott’s undertaking is not just a test of physical endurance. He is running to support PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide, a critical organisation in the fight against youth suicide in the UK.

Suicide remains the leading cause of death among young people under 35 in the country, with over 1,800 young lives lost each year.

Supporting youth in crisis
PAPYRUS provides vital support and advice to young people grappling with suicidal thoughts.

Their services extend to those concerned about a young person, offering confidential assistance through their HOPELINE247 helpline.

The organisation emphasises that every £5 raised can help fund a life-saving contact to their helpline.

This event not only highlights the physical capabilities of an individual, but also underscores the community’s commitment to addressing critical mental health issues among the youth.
