Congratulations to all the Bonchurch residents who opened their gardens to the public over the weekend of 8th and 9th July – the event raised a whopping £4,300.
The two-day event saw around 860 programmes and cream teas sold, with all money raised going back to support community projects.
More popular than ever
Brian Lucas from Bonchurch Community Association told News OnTheWight there were many factors that contributed to the increase in visitors.
As well as the forecasted sunshine for both the weekend afternoons, there was also an increase in publicity at local garden centres and hotels (as well as News OnTheWight).
Some truly exceptional gardens
The event has a growing reputation with some truly exceptional gardens now entering.
Once you’d trekked around the village (there was a shuttle bus for those with weary legs) the Strawberry Cream teas finished the afternoon off in a relaxed and enjoyable style.
Look out for the return of the event in 2024. It’s one not to miss.
