Fire In Marymead Close, Ryde (Photo & Map) (Update 3)

Many thanks to VB reader Jason Harris letting us know about a fire in Marymead Close, Ryde,

Fire In Marymead Close, RydeIt was only reported to the fire brigade at around 1pm, so the details are currently sketchy.

It was reported that smoke was seem coming from a residential building in Marymead Close, Ryde.

Three pumps and a command vehicle have been requested, which makes it sound like it might be quite a large fire.

Update: More pumps fight fire
Riea Busst tell us that there are four fire engines, four police vehicles and two ambulances at the scene.

Shortly afterwards, another fire engine has joined to fight the blaze, making five in total and reports that the wind seems to be spreading the fire across the building.

Update 16:20: We’ve just spoken to fire control. They tell us that they still have five fire engines there but are starting to get to closing stages and are in the damping down phase.

All flats would have been evacuated and once building control have surveied the premises, they’ll be looking to allow the resident to return.

The fire investigation teams just about to be initiated.

Have also added photos from @Tobes1.

More details as they come in.

Many thanks to Jason Harris, Luke Adkins, Anne-Marie Murphy and @Tobes1 for getting in touch and sending VB the photos through.
