From damaged RIB to stranded yacht: Cowes RNLI’s busy night in Osborne Bay

Cowes RNLI lifeboat was launched Friday night to sort out double-trouble in Osborne Bay.

One problem involved a RIB with a damaged propeller, carrying seven people, many of them feeling the cold.

Because of the need to quickly warm them up, six of the occupants were quickly ferried by the lifeboat to Town Quay, Cowes. Then the lifeboat returned to the RIB to tow it to Cowes.

Quickly the lifeboat went out yet again to Osborne Bay, this time to help the yacht, carrying two people, which had suffered engine failure. It was towed to Shepards Marina.

The lifeboat eventually returned to station at 11.42 pm.
