Many thanks to the Garlic Festival organisers for helping to support VB by sponsoring this article. Ed
One more day to go until the return of the Isle of Wight Garlic Festival.
Despite the hiccups of the stolen marquee and the let down from the Wheel of Death, it’s full steam ahead for the organisers, who are putting the finishing touches together to make 2010 event better than ever before.
Diversity rules
The attraction for many people, and probably the reason why they return year after year, is the huge variety of what’s on offer over the weekend.
As well as over 300 stalls of every kind (many under cover in case of rain), you’ll find a massive choice of food and entertainment on both days.
Chill out at the music stage
Saturday sees a great lineup of musical talent from the Island and beyond.
With great music planned for throughout the day, come 4pm you won’t just be tapping your feet, but hopefully singing along to those merry countrymen, The Wurzels. Ooh aah!
If you need to gen up on the words, then the Wurzels’ Website provides lyrics for all the classics. If you need to tune to practice, here’s one we found earlier.
Also playing for your pleasure are Le Roc, Blue Train, Me and My Sister, Derek Sandy, Lucid, and Robbie Boyd.
Lazy Sunday afternoon
They’ll be needing to hold back the ladies on Sunday when two six-pack hunks in a row take to the stage. We are of course referring to Gareth Icke and Derek Sandy.
Le Roc will be returning and joined by Blue Train, Lucid, Specialz and closing the festival will be none other than The Glitter Band. Yes folks, the band who supported Gary Glitter are still going strong and are sure to be playing tunes from their new album as well as the old favourites.
