Aspire Ryde will be busy distributing hundreds of ‘Christmas Dinner’ Hampers over the next two days with the help of volunteers from Isle of Wight Lions and WRS Systems.
Having launched an appeal with IW Radio, the charity has been inundated with donations from companies and individuals signing up to sponsor Christmas Dinner for families and individuals struggling with the cost of living.
Eeles: Reached more than double the target
Karen Eeles, Aspires head of fundraising said,
“It was wonderful, we were hoping to get 100 boxes sponsored, but in the end we achieved more than double that.
“People have been really generous when times are so tough.”
Aspire have also been able to add more hampers through a matched funding scheme from insurance company Aviva.
Nicholas: A great example of people coming together to help each other
Trevor Nicholas, Chief Executive said,
“It’s amazing what we’ve been able to achieve as a community with so many people contributing and wanting to take part.
“The hampers are being distributed right across the Island and we’ve worked with partner charities and organisations to make sure that we can get them to those who need support the most.
“It’s just a great example of people coming together to help each other.”
