Workers at GKN call for union assistance over change to working conditions

Ryde Trades Union Council inform OnTheWight that workers at Isle of Wight based GKN have sought assistance from their union organisation following proposed changes to terms of working.

Unite logo:We’re told that a Trades Council meeting was held last night during which it was revealed that GKN are planning to increase working hours to 40 per week, whilst reducing the hourly rate of pay.

Shop Stewards will be representing GKN workers, whose opposition, we’re told, has “manifested itself in various ways as would be expected”.

OnTheWight has contacted GKN for a comment, but at time of publishing has not heard back. We’ll update this article once we do.
