A planning application for a grain drying plant, powered by a biomass boiler has been approved by the Isle of Wight Planning Committee.
Readers will remember the report On The Wight ran back in August, when the application by Isle of Wight Grain was in public consultation.
Using locally-produced woodchip
The new dryer, planned to replace an old installation, is claimed by the supplier to be of a high specification and efficient at containing grain dust.
The boiler will make use around 60t of locally produced woodchip per annum.
There was existing planning permission for a new dryer on the same site, but in a slightly different position.
The planning approval was a prerequisite of a £350,000 grant application for the works.
