An exhibition featuring historical photographs, archive material and artefacts about village life, trades, fishing, farming and Brooke lifeboat take place at Seely Hall between Friday 19th to Sunday 28th August.
Meet local characters
On Saturday 20th you can meet and talk to local characters of the time: Ben Jacobs, lifeboat coxswain and Gen. Jack Seely, soldier, politician and lifeboatman.
There’ll be a chance to dress up in Victorian costume, try your hand at lobster-pot weaving and Victorian daily chores including wash day.
Watch a Viking battle
Sunday 21st brings a chance to see a living history re-enactment of village life in Saxon Chessell.
Step back in time to watch a Viking battle or learn hurdle-making and talk to a Neolithic inhabitant of the area.
Join the many walks
A number of walks are planned around the area, featuring ‘Brook people and places’, ‘cliffs, fields and settlements’ and ‘lifeboat, smuggling and fossils’.
