So sad to hear of this lady who was discovered passed away after not turning up for voluntary work with the Hospice. Our thoughts go out to her friends and family. Ed
After missing her first shift on Monday in over 10 years of volunteering for Earl Mountbatten Hospice, Christine Candler had sadly died at her home and was found by a concerned Hospice colleague.
Despite living with just her beloved dogs for companionship, and no family on the Isle of Wight, Christine was very much considered to be part of the Hospice family so when she did not arrive for her shift at the Donation and Distribution Centre in Newport, colleagues became concerned for her welfare.
One of the concerned colleagues went to her home in the afternoon but became increasingly worried that Christine was not answering the door as usual. She then contacted the police who found that Christine had sadly passed away.
Kath Bright, Retail Team Leader, says, “Christine has supported the Hospice by volunteering over many years and we will all miss her immensely. We are all relieved that she was found quickly and send our condolences to her family.”
Details of her funeral are yet to be issued.
