Island Council Houses May Be Sold

Yesterday the Isle of Wight council revealed an extensive list of buildings; youth clubs; ex-public toilets; schools; land; recreation ground and car parks that may be sold over the next few years.

For SaleNear the end of the list of 80 items there was an item labelled, “Residential Rationalisation – Properties offered for sale as tenants vacate.”

VentnorBlog contacted the council to ask, “Please give us the details of what this means, such as how many properties are being considered, which specific properties will be considered and where they are.”

Council’s reply
We received their reply this morning.

In simple terms the council owns a small number (less than 10) of properties that are currently residential. The council may or may not look to sell these properties if and when they become vacant and by placing this information on the forward plan, it outlines that they may be sold in future once they become vacant.

Because these properties are currently occupied, it is not appropriate to provide specific locations.
