BUSINESSES, schools and community groups on the Isle of Wight that have been shortlisted are being invited along to the annual healthy eating awards ceremony which is being staged at the Royal London Yacht Club in Cowes on 30 November.
The glittering awards evening is being staged by the Isle of Wight Healthy Eating Alliance and is co-ordinated by the Isle of Wight Rural Community Council.
The awards are supported financially by Isle of Wight Council through healthy schools, early years and turning the tables funding.
Among the awards being handed out during the evening is the Pablum Award for Schools which is open to state and public schools on the Island which are working towards the National Healthy School Standard; the Hamilton’s Fine Foods Local Produce Class which celebrates local food and the Isle of Wight Council Early Years Award which rewards nurseries, day schools and children’s centres committed to healthy eating.
The evening is being hosted by Irene Carroll, immediate past chair of the local authority caterers association. Dr Martin Caraher, reader in food and health policy at City University in London will be the principal speaker at the event.
Entrants in the award catagories include St Helens Restaurant and Bar, Shalfleet and Arreton Primary Schools and Wroxall Parents Group.
