Isle of Wight artist Paul Armfield releases music video in collaboration with Paradox Paul (updated)

Last updated:

Isle of Wight singer, songwriter, poet and artist Paul Armfield (his list of talents is endless) will unveil a new music video at 8pm on Monday 14th April 2025.

The video accompanies his latest single, Paperback, and will be released on his official YouTube channel.

Collaboration with Paradox Paul
Once again, Paul has collaborated with Paradox Paul, an artist and AI filmmaker.

Paradox Paul has created the visuals for the video, continuing a creative partnership that has impressed fans with previous releases.

Second single from upcoming album
Paperback is the second single taken from Paul Armfield’s forthcoming album Between The Covers – 9 Songs For Bibliophiles.

The album is due for release in May 2025 and is now available to pre-order.

Paul explained more about the new single,

“The song pays tribute to those bestselling biographies that are read and instantly discarded, to then be found in ‘every car boot sale and bargain box’. Written in the first person, it plummets from boastfulness to regret that such a heartfelt retelling of a life can be so readily disposed of and forgotten.

“When performing the song live I’ll tell of how, as a teenager looking for books in charity shops and jumble sales, one could guarantee finding several copies of David Niven’s memoirs ‘The Moon Is A Balloon’, asking the audience for modern day equivalents of similarly omnipresent discarded titles I’ll endeavour to include their suggestions in the song.

“The two most commonly cited authors are name-dropped in this recording: EL James (50 Shades Of Grey) and Dan Brown (Da Vinci Code).”

He went on to say,

“With the bulk of the recording made with friends in Stuttgart, the emotional content of the song is turned up a notch courtesy of my long time collaborator Mari Persen who arranges, performs and records the string parts from her studio in Bergen, Norway.

“Originally meeting on MySpace, Mari first contributed vocals on my 2011 ’Tennyson’ album, and ever since we’ve been making guest appearances on each others records, though it wasn’t until April of 2024 that we actually met in person.”
