There was a time when it felt like every time you opened Private Eye, the Isle of Wight council featured on the Rotten Boroughs page.
Of late there hasn’t been anything in there, much to the relief of those at County Hall we’re sure. That is, until the latest one (Miliband Tweeting cover) arrived by post today.
The piece is a couple of paras in bold drawing a line between the around-£3m cut in adult social care with the £3m planned council “investment” (their quotes) in super-fast broadband for the Island.
The piece goes on to point out that the upgraded broadband will only be available in a few towns on the Island.
It concludes – “How the council will find the extra £3m is another mystery, for the high court ruled in November that its planned adult care cuts were unlawful (our link), putting the whole policy on hold.”
