If you read the Guardian, you will have seen last weekend’s 22 page British Seaside Special.
If you don’t, you won’t have seen the great plugs for the Isle of Wight.
Our lovely Island fared well with several mentions including the Crab Shed in Wheelers Bay in the Top Ten places to eat by the sea.
We interviewed Mandy Wheeler, who makes the famous crab pasties mentioned in the article, last year when helping out with the filming of the BBC Inside Out Show.
Just like a Ladybird book
Under seaside kitsch came a fantastic quote from uber-trendy photographer, Martin Parr who visited the Island last year.
“The Isle of Wight has a retro feel. It is like navigating round a Ladybird book. Tea shops and deckchairs abound, and resorts such as Ventnor exude charm by the bucketful.”
As well as recommendations for accommodation, there’s also a piece on Blackgang Chine in which they say “Think abandoned Terry Gilliam film set and you’re halfway there – Near Ventnor”
We also hear that this weekend the forthcoming V-Bay Festival will be featured in the Daily Express.
All this sort of coverage is great for our tourist industry.
