Isle of Wight Festival: Calvin Harris, Mercury Rev, The Rakes & The Maccabees

Isle of Wight Festival: Calvin Harris, Mercury Rev, The Rakes & The Maccabees There’ll be some more announcements coming up later today, but in the meantime Isle of Wight Festival organisers yesterday confirmed four more acts to the lineup to the festival that is just seven weeks away.

The Big Top proved very popular last year as an alternative venue to the main stage and with the lineup growing by four more great acts, we suspect some people won’t be moving from the Big Top stage all weekend.

Confirmed for the Saturday entertainment is Scottish singer-songwriter and record producer Calvin Harris. He’s well known for reinventing disco and having worked with the princess of pop, Kylie and rapper Dizzee Rascal he’s sure to have you zigging out on Saturday.

Mercury Rev, have been going since the mid 1980s, but this will be the first time they’ve played Isle of Wight Festival. Their loyal fan base are sure to be delighted at the news.

Making a come back after their two year break, British art-rock band The Rakes are definitely going to be one band to keep an eye on.

Finally, making a return visit to the Isle of Wight, The Maccabees will be back with their eagerly awaited second album, ‘Walls of Arms’.

As we said there’ll be more news coming out today as Tim Burgess reveals the lineup for the Big Top on Sunday.
