Ready your billhooks! The 2012 Isle of Wight Hedgelaying Competition will be on Saturday 25th February at New Barn Farm, Calbourne.
Once more there will be keen competition and a lot of talent on display at an Isle of Wight farm when the Island’s annual hedgelaying competition takes place.
Besides being a lot of fun, the competition is intended to inspire others to take up the craft, so that the ancient art can be kept alive and the decline of hedges in our countryside can be reversed.
Interesting for spectators too
Spectators are welcome to attend and can watch for free.
There will be displays, hot refreshments and plenty of excitement as the competitors get down to some serious cutting.
