Isle of Wight partnership launches survey to address escalating food insecurity issues

In an effort to gain deeper insights into the challenges of food insecurity faced by residents of the Isle of Wight, the Island Food Strategy Group is conducting a short survey.

The Isle of Wight council formed an alliance with the Island Food Strategy Group in 2022. Following the partnership, Public Health has since taken the reins, facilitating collaboration amongst public, private, and voluntary sectors.

A response to growing concerns
The mandate of this collaboration is to explore and address food insecurity issues that have been exacerbated by the escalating cost of living and the enduring consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The council and its partners have urged community members and stakeholders to share the survey. Sandy Ciccognani, Community Action IW, said,

“We would be very grateful if you could pass it on to anyone who you know who is working to support Islanders with food provision.”

Understanding the ground realities
Promising to take under ten minutes to complete, the survey aims to shed light on the present food provision scenario on the Isle of Wight.

The ultimate objective is to identify any existing service gaps. By highlighting these gaps, the group hopes to strategise on potential solutions through collective efforts.

This outreach will continue until Friday 15th September 2023.

Expressing gratitude for community participation, Sandy added,

“We very much appreciate your time and support with this.”
