The total number of hours that people are listening to Isle of Wight Radio is down again in the latest quarter, Dec 2011, reported by RAJAR* today.
VB held off reporting the drop last quarter as we’d hoped they’d improve in the final quarter of 2011, but sadly it didn’t happen. One element that has risen is the number of weekly listeners, which has gone up by 1,000, but as RAJAR now quote the population of the Island as 122,000 (up from 120k), the percentage listening to the radio remains at 31%, the same it’s been throughout 2011.
The number of hours the listeners listen to weekly has dropped to 9.8 hours, its lowest since the new owners took control of the station in late 2009.
*(RAJAR are the body that produces the listening figures for the radio industry).
(We’ve taken the unusual decision to not open comments on this story, as previously there’s been quite a few vicious comments left on IW Radio stories.)
